Guided Reading

Today, we had Guided Reading. We read things about oil and pollution. The picture below shows our groups and what we are reading.

Oompa- loompa!

Today we reviled our surprised. Everybody in year five dressed up as Oompaloomas and we had face painting in the pod this morning as well as hair spray.

Because our them was Charlie and the chocolate Factory we made chocolate

Drama

This day, we went to Drama. We made vehicles as people and played a game which was 'Wink Murderer'. It was fun.

Read-a-thon.

Today year FS 1- Year 6 had a  read-a-thon. It was like a whole period of reading in the houses.

Today we did circle time where we discussed a story that Mr E read. We tried different ways to share our ideas.

Today we drew tiny animals that lived in the sea 570 million years ago. We also drew coral in preparation for an art competition that will be held at the end of January.

Today we worked on our individual blogs and we did it on our iPads. Here are some of our classmates blogs.

Making a comic strip about the sea.

Today, we made a comic about the sea turning into oil and stone. It started in the Paleozoic Era, when the sea was filled with microscopic animals. 320 million years later, dinosaurs roamed the land. And when animals die, they get buried under the ground and as more and more animals died, they piled on top of each other. Now there is oil and rocks.

End of day routine

Every day we have jobs we do at the end of the day. The jobs are Class target how monitor how well we're doing on our class targets an other one is recaper and they ask as about the day and then blogger that write about our day.

Experiment

Today we did an experiment on how to get oil of the top of the water. We tried a lot of different methods to remove the oil from the water. It was very hard to clean up and when we got it on the floor it became very slippery.

Marketplace

Today, we read some information on problems in Indonesia, made posters, and then shared with other people like a marketplace. It was very interesting to learn about these different things. We were put into random groups and we worked together to make cool posters.

First Day of Term 2!!!

Happy New Year !!! The holidays are now over and school has started. Today we started at looking a bit into our new topic "Black Gold". We paired up and looked at a newspaper which was about an environmental campaigner going missing and a oil leak. In addition, we studied the features of newspaper reports and we attempted to write about an exciting event that happened during the holiday in the style of newspapers. Mr E Showed us a video about the newspaper report of the oil leak.
